ISLAND HOUSE PROJECTS

Island House Project Delivery Areas

Island House aims to deliver high quality facilities, services and projects for the promotion of the social, mental, physical and spiritual well being of people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and faiths in the Isle of Dogs and beyond.

We are also a COMMUNITY RESOURCE, providing facilities and services for a wide range of tenant and user groups as well as running our own community projects in the following areas:

ADULT \LEARNING      -   We run the ABLE Project, providing  ESOL &  Conversation classes to help speakers of other languages develop their english skills. The ABLE project also provides basic skills courses in I.T. and emploment preparation, with work experience placements.

                            -        We also run City & Guilds training courses for volunteers to become Community  Parents, providing peer support for pregnant women and new mums up to 12 months postnatal.

YOUTH & FAMILY       -   We run  the "YOU" youth programme for 13-19 yr olds, including a full  programme of term-time and school holiday activities

                                -   We provide one-to-one and group peer support for vulnerable families, including Peri-natal Pilates Classes and Bumps & Babies support groups

PUBLIC HEALTH        -   We run the  CanDo Community Led Projects for both South East and South West ward localities in Tower Hamlets, and we coordinate this programme for the whole borough.

                               -    We run a Health & Wellbeing Project, providing a wide range of healthy lifestyle activities for adults.

SPORT & LEISURE    -    We run an entreprenurial support project to develop StreetDance for local teenagers and we provide training for young people to become sports leaders and dance tutors

                               -    We are an Approved Accreditation Centre for Sports Leaders UK

Island House takes our environmental responsibility very seriously.

All our projects and activities operate within our Greening Island House framework.
